Gentle Yoga Class at Artman

This therapeutic gentle yoga class will be held in the yoga room in the Becoming Center at Artman.

Each class will include practices for relaxation, flexibility, strength and balance.

You should be able to get up and down onto the floor for this class.

You may bring your own yoga mat, but there will be a mat for you to borrow if you don't have one.

All props and equipment that we use (dumbbells, resistance bands, yoga blocks and straps, etc.) will be provided.

NOTE: These classes are not part of a Becoming Center membership.

Chair Yoga Class at Artman

This therapeutic chair yoga class will be held in the Becoming Center's yoga room at Artman. Each one-hour class will include chair-based practices to promote relaxation, improve flexibility and range of motion, and build strength and balance.

Each class will also include meditation, breathing practices, and a Savasana (resting pose) at the end. These classes are designed for older adults, beginners, or anyone who prefers a gentle and slower-paced yoga class. We will practice postures in sitting and standing - using a chair for support.

Bring your own yoga mat or use one of ours. We will place the mat under the chair for added stability in the standing portion of the class.

NOTE: These classes are not part of a Becoming Center membership.

Gentle Yoga for Strength and Stability Class

This class is for beginners or those with some experience with yoga. The class includes practices to build core and extremity strength and stability, using body weight and optional dumbbells and resistance bands. While this class focuses on strength and balance, it maintains the feel of a traditional yoga practice with an emphasis on mindfulness in movement and breath. Every class opens with a guided meditation and breathing practice and closes with a brief relaxation pose (Savasana.)

Chair Yoga

This is a 60-minute gentle chair-based yoga practice that is beneficial for everyone, whether you need the support of a chair or not! If you can't make the live class, you can practice with the recording that is emailed to you after class.

In this 60-minute class, you will be guided through all the features of a mat-based yoga class. The practice will include meditation, mindfulness and breath-centered movements to build strength, flexibility and balance.

We will also work on standing and balance poses, using the chair for support. Options to stay in the chair will be provided as needed.

A sturdy chair without arms is recommended for this practice.
