Practices will include sitting and lying on the floor as well as standing. Transitions from floor to standing will be kept to a minimum but you should be able to comfortably get up and down onto the floor for this class. If not, please consider the Chair Yoga Class Series.
This therapeutic gentle yoga series will be held in the Becoming Center's yoga room at Artman. Each one-hour class will include practices to promote relaxation, improve flexibility and range of motion, and build strength and balance. The class will also include meditation breathing practices, and a Savasana (resting pose) at the end. These classes are specially designed for older adults, beginners, or anyone who prefers a gentle and slower-paced yoga class.
Blocks, straps, and blankets are provided, but you can bring your own.
Bring your own yoga mat or you can use one of ours.

Bring your own yoga mat or use one of ours. We will place the mat under the chair for added stability in the standing portion of the class.

When you commit to a class series, vs. just dropping into a class here and there, you are committing to practice consistently and you will get better results. When you practice with the same group of people, you will have the opportunity to get to know others and make connections. Also, since the class size is small, I can better tailor the yoga class to meet the needs of all the students in the class. As a group, we will all make progress together.
You will be taught by me, a physical therapist and yoga teacher. As a physical therapist, I have the knowledge and ability to provide you with safe and effective guidance on how to move your body. These classes are designed for older adults and will address the common issues we face as we get older. I specialize in providing modifications to accommodate different bodies and abilities.

Yes, this class is designed for beginners as well as those who have some experience in yoga. Come as you are. You’ll fit right in! My students are people of all shapes, sizes, and backgrounds. You’ll find my classes are small, personal, inclusive, and accessible. I will meet you where you are and give you appropriate options for challenging yourself (or not), depending on what you need on any given day.
While there are no credits or refunds for missed classes, you can join one of my live online classes or watch one of my yoga videos from the on-demand library. If there is room in another class, I will let you know and give you the option to take that class as a make-up.
