Yoga from Home in the Winter - It's a Great Option!
Liz Quinlisk | FEB 14, 2025

Winter is a great time to practice yoga online from home! Without the hassle of having to go outside and drive somewhere, you can just put on your comfy clothes, grab a yoga mat and get started. Yoga is the perfect antidote for winter-time stiffness, achy joints and low energy.
There are so many benefits to establishing a home yoga practice.
Here are some of them:
It’s convenient. When you have a home yoga practice, you are not confined to a yoga studio or gym schedule that might not fit with your own. You can do it on your own time, when it works best for you. And it’s time-efficient because you don’t have to travel far – just a few steps to the space that you choose to practice in.
It’s cost-effective. You don’t need any special equipment or clothing. A yoga mat is helpful, but not absolutely necessary.
It’s flexible. I don’t mean that you have to be flexible to do yoga, what I mean is that there is flexibility in how you choose to practice. You choose how you want to practice and what you want to focus on. Some days you might want a gentle practice and other days you might feel like a more invigorating practice. Depending on how much time you have, you can opt for a shorter or longer practice. And you get to choose exactly how you want to move and what to include in your practice considering how you are feeling. And if the weather permits, you can even practice outside.
You can wear your PJ’s! You don’t need any special clothing to practice yoga, you just need to wear something that is comfortable and that allows you to move freely. We really should never worry about how we look when we practice yoga, but let’s be honest, many of us are self-conscious about how we look when we go into a group setting like a gym or yoga studio. It’s just human nature to compare ourselves to others. When we practice at home, we don’t have that distraction. We can focus on what is really important – how we are feeling, how we are moving and how we are breathing.
